Learning and support passarelle for apprentices KV-Immobilien

Since then, a diverse range of support services has been established, which is constantly being developed and adapted to current requirements – most recently also to the new CT education reform, which has been in force since the 2023/2024 apprenticeship year. At the heart of this reform is the focus on skills rather than subjects in order to best prepare learners for a digital, networked and agile working world. The previous B and E profiles have been replaced by a flexible structure with compulsory elective areas and specialization options. The first final examinations under the new model will take place in spring 2026.

In response, SVIT Young Zurich has developed an attractive learning and support package that is highly appreciated by apprentices, vocational trainers and our members.

    Kick-off real estate apprenticeship
Finally out of school and into working life! For many, an apprenticeship is the first real step towards their future. But what can you expect – and what is expected of you? We’ll give you an overview. One thing is clear: you are no longer a student, but a learner. This means that you will continue to learn a lot of new things – but not just in the classroom, but directly in everyday working life. Reliability, interest and initiative are expected of you. Punctuality, thinking for yourself and taking responsibility are the basics.

    Learning during the apprenticeship
Preparing for practical work and the final exams involves much more than just specialist knowledge. It is also important to us to promote your mental strength and resilience. Because what if an oral exam doesn’t go as planned? How do you stay calm, focused and confident? This includes topics such as presentation techniques, dealing with exam anxiety and strategies to combat concentration difficulties. We also address modern challenges such as the constant distraction of smartphones and tablets – because they can put a strain on the nervous system and make learning more difficult. With targeted exercises, such as supportive eye training, we promote your ability to absorb information and help you to retain knowledge in the long term.

    QV-Campus 2026
At the four-day QV-Campus at the Höhenhotel Emmetten (NW), apprentices in their 3rd year are optimally prepared for the company qualification procedure (the industry part of the final apprenticeship examination). The focus is on real estate and fiduciary theory, technical discussions, business situations, presentation techniques, presentation skills and dealing confidently with exam nerves. If desired, school subjects (except foreign languages) can also be covered in greater depth. All participants receive individual support until the final exam. And the results speak for themselves: QV-Campus participants have regularly achieved above-average grades in recent years.

  • Foundation stone laid for new Tösstal campus in Winterthur

Foundation stone laid for new Tösstal campus in Winterthur

The ground-breaking ceremony for the new building of the Winterthur Vocational College marks the beginning of a new era in educational infrastructure. The modern campus will provide space for a growing number of students and enable modern training in the specialist areas of retail and care. Thanks to well thought-out planning, construction work has been progressing rapidly since the start in February 2024.

The new school infrastructure, right next to the Wiesental and Mühletal sites, allows previously separate school locations to be brought together. The “Campus Tösstal” will provide space for up to 1000 students in the future. In addition to traditional classrooms, open learning niches will provide space for individual and collaborative work. The flexible building structure makes it possible to easily integrate future spatial requirements.

    Sustainable architecture sets standards
The building meets the Minergie-P-Eco standard and the Gold Standard for Sustainable Building Switzerland. A green roof and photovoltaic system contribute to an ecological balance and a better urban climate. The building will also be connected to the city’s district heating network, combining energy efficiency and sustainability. Completion is scheduled for spring 2027.

  • EWZ and EKZ join forces to combat skills shortage

EWZ and EKZ join forces to combat skills shortage

Without the work of the grid electricians, Zurich would remain dark. By building and maintaining electricity grids, they ensure that the city and canton are reliably supplied with electrical energy. Despite the importance of this profession, the shortage of skilled workers in the sector is a growing problem. For this reason, the leading electricity suppliers EKZ (Elektrizitätswerke des Kantons Zürich) and ewz (Elektrizitätswerk der Stadt Zürich) have joined forces to create a training program specifically for career changers.

A training program for career changers
The career changer program is aimed at professionals with a basic electrical engineering or technical background. During the training program, participants receive a full salary and learn practical skills on the job. The theoretical training takes place at the ewz training center in Zurich-Schwamendingen. After one year, graduates receive an internal training certificate, which distinguishes them as qualified grid electricians.

    Diverse career opportunities
Many of the participants switch from other professions to grid electrics. Fabian V. from EKZ, who previously worked as an operations maintenance specialist, describes his new job as varied and exciting. Goran R. from ewz, who previously worked in fiber optic expansion, sees further training as a logical progression in his career and is looking forward to the new challenges.

    The communication campaign
In order to reach potential candidates for the program, the companies have launched the “Komm ins Team Power” campaign. Short videos on various online channels as well as offline measures at sporting events and via employees are intended to address the target group. Further information can be found on the website www.teampower.ch.

Working together to combat the shortage of skilled workers
The collaboration between ewz and EKZ shows how energy companies can work together to combat the shortage of skilled workers and at the same time offer attractive career opportunities for career changers. The training of grid electricians is an important step towards ensuring security of supply in Zurich in the long term.

Zurich power generators jointly train grid electricians

According to a press release, Zurich’s two electricity suppliers are launching a joint training and communication campaign. Together, they want to train more grid electricians. The focus is on lateral entrants, according to a joint press release from EKZ and ewz.

Instead of poaching skilled workers from each other, the electricity suppliers have now developed a joint training concept that is specifically tailored to lateral entrants. The programme is aimed at professionals who have already completed training in electrical engineering or another trade. The two energy companies are organising an information evening on this topic on 13 November.

The programme is being run jointly by the two companies. During the internal training period, employees already receive a full salary. They are employed by either EKZ or ewz and receive their practical training on the job, supplemented by courses at the ewz training centre in Zurich-Schwamendingen. After around a year of further training, graduates receive an internal training certificate.

In order to reach candidates for the lateral entry programme, the electricity suppliers are launching the Komm ins Team Power campaign. It addresses the target group with short videos on various online channels and directs them to a special website. Advertising campaigns at sporting events, activation via employees of the two energy companies and cooperation with the netzelektriker-forum association are also planned.

Vocational trainer meeting SVIT Zurich 2024

The reforms to basic commercial training are crucial to ensure that the training of young adults meets the changing demands of the labour market. The new provisions, which are based on a review every five years, have been in force since August 2023. The aim is to ensure that commercial apprenticeships always keep pace with the times. The current projects of Bildung Kaufleute Schweiz and the Interessengemeinschaft Kaufmännische Grundbildung ensure that commercial apprenticeships EFZ and EBA will continue to meet the changing needs of the labour market in the future. The focus here is on the development of competences to facilitate graduates’ direct entry into professional life.

    Experience reports and practical implementation
This year’s SVIT Zurich vocational trainer meeting will focus on the reform. The organisation for basic commercial training in fiduciary services / real estate will report on its experiences in implementing the reforms. SVIT Zurich will also present ways in which apprentices can be supported throughout the three years of training in accordance with the new training regulations and optimally prepared for the final examination.

    Interactive participation and dialogue
A key element of the meeting is the opportunity to ask questions directly to the OKGT. This gives participants the opportunity to get actively involved and benefit from the experience and knowledge of the experts.

    Event details
The vocational trainer meeting will take place on Tuesday, 10 September 2024, from 10:30 to 13:00 on the premises of SVIT Zurich, Siewerdtstrasse 8, 8050 Zurich. Participation is free of charge for both SVIT Zurich members and non-members. As the number of places in the presence mode is limited, members of SVIT Zurich have priority when allocating places.

This meeting offers a valuable platform for the exchange and networking of vocational trainers and experts in the property and location promotion sector. Participants will have the opportunity to find out about the latest developments in basic commercial training and actively participate in the discussion.
