Recyclable linoleum flooring with a high cork content

Dietlikon-based flooring supplier Tarkett Schweiz AG has launched its own recyclable Lino Materiale collection. It consists of cork granulate, linseed oil, pine resin and wood flour and is available in ten earthy colours, the company writes in a press release.

Thanks to its high cork content, Lino Materiale is more flexible and can reduce sound better than other linoleum floors. The material’s good abrasion and chemical resistance throughout its service life makes the flooring solutions resistant to dirt and daily wear and tear. This makes them a good choice for high-traffic areas such as schools, offices, clinics and administrative buildings.

The floors, which were developed on the basis of the original recipe from 1898, have an exclusive surface finish, according to the supplier. This reduces cleaning and maintenance costs and therefore energy requirements. The floors require neither initial maintenance nor additional care or coating measures, which also contributes to the manufacturer’s sustainability concept.

However, part of this concept is also that the flooring can be recycled. “Because at Tarkett, real sustainability doesn’t end with installation,” says Daniel Mai, Product Manager D/A/CH for Homogeneous Vinyl, Heterogeneous Vinyl, Linoleum, Sports Indoor, in the press release. The ReStart take-back programme returns the linoleum and installation residues to the cycle. The flooring is fully processed and reused as recyclate.

The Dietiker construction company Walo Bertschinger is installing a new floor covering on the construction site of suissetec grischun, the Graubünden trade association, in Chur. According to a Walo message on Facebook, a workshop for apprentices in the heating and plumbing trades is being built there.

According to this information, 450 square metres of FAMA hardwood flooring will be installed. Walo’s hardwood flooring is characterised by outstanding properties, from thermal insulation and sweat resistance to high mechanical resistance and easy maintenance.

The flooring is perfect for workshops, production areas, warehouses, laboratories and technical rooms. With purely natural raw materials and no plastic content or artificial colour pigments, the FAMA hardwood flooring is not only ecological, but also extremely practical, according to the Walo press release. The floor covering in the training workshop is warm to the feet, environmentally friendly and non-slip.

The suissetec grischun website states that suissetec is the leading contractors’ and industry association for the plumbing, building envelope, sanitary, heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration sectors. Walo installs new flooring at Stadler

Walo Bertschinger has provided the Stadler Rail production halls in St. Margrethen with a new floor covering. According to a message on Facebook, an area of 19,000 square meters was covered with the Haypanol-D covering in the production halls for the assembly of trains. The Haypanol-D epoxy coating developed by Walo has been tried and tested in industrial buildings and parks for years. The finally hardened epoxy forms together with the scattered material of the quartz sand a very hard, clean and even surface structure.

According to a technical explanation on Walo’s special website for floor coverings, the seamless Haypanol-D litter coverings have high mechanical and chemical resistance. The property profile of the industrial floor coverings is adapted to the respective stress class. The anti-slip properties of the covering are coordinated according to the customer’s requirements. In addition, the system can also be designed as an antistatic or electrically conductive covering. The flooring has a longevity of up to 25 years.

The Stadler site in St.Margrethen in the border triangle is the competence center for double-deck multiple units within the Stadler Group, according to the Stadler Group website. After more than 20 years in Altenrhein, this production was moved to the newly built plant in St.Margrethen in 2020.
