New offices and meeting rooms completed in Bern

The remodelling and renovation of the offices and meeting rooms at the Halter construction company’s Bern site have been completed. They were realised by Integral design-build AG, part of the Halter Group in Schlieren, within six months. The keys were handed over last week, according to Integral’s LinkedIn page. “By using recyclable materials such as wood, glass and metal, we have created a space that not only minimises our ecological footprint, but also reflects our values of sustainability and aesthetics,” it continues.

The Halter site in Bern is growing and with it the “need for a larger and more inspiring working environment”, according to a Halter press release. Since the beginning of March this year, an additional 600 square metres of the former Denner site have been rented at the location in the House of Religions realised by Halter. The conversion phase, including dismantling, began in November 2023 and was successfully completed in July 2024. The expansion has increased capacity from 40 to 58 workstations. There are now also additional touchdown workstations and meeting rooms with modern equipment. The move has been successfully completed and the premises have already been filled with life.

A particular highlight of the remodelling is the impressive staircase, which connects the two floors and creates an open and dynamic working atmosphere, according to the Halter press release.

The Halter Group comprises a total of ten companies. The head office is in Schlieren, with further locations in Münchenstein BL, Bern, Kriens LU, Lausanne, St. Gallen and Geneva.

Swiss textile company furnishes buildings in London and Lichtenfels

Création Baumann has received two orders from England and Germany. In London, the Bern-based company, which specialises in textile interior design, is fitting out the 636 flats in the Newfoundland Tower with a version of its LORD curtain fabric that is colour-coordinated with the interior design concept, Création Baumann announced in a press release. The curtains reflect the light and achieve energy savings of up to 14 per cent. The fabric panels, totalling around 40 kilometres in length, are manufactured in Switzerland.

In Germany, Création Baumann is fitting out the Archive of the Future in Lichtenfels near Bamberg. This is a pavilion surrounded by glass façades that can be fully opened, which houses offices and areas for exhibitions and events. Such “open architectural concepts with lots of glass rely on targeted lighting control to create optimal working conditions and protect rooms from overheating,” writes Création Baumann in a further press release. The textile manufacturer’s GUARD curtain fabric is being used in Lichtenfels. With its grid-like appearance, the aluminium-metallised fabric allows light into the interior, while its wafer-thin aluminium layer simultaneously protects against direct sunlight and glare.

The mortgage broker my hypotheca ag, managed by Rolf Zäch and Karim Schmid, is now working from the Atmos Tower in Zurich, according to a press release. After founding my hypotheca in 2021, the founders spent two years in the co-working space at JED in Schlieren to further develop their idea. The young company, now registered as my hypotheca ag, now employs nine full-time staff.

Zäch und Schmid’s business model as a mortgage broker is customer-orientated in several respects, the press release continues. Their large mortgage volume and direct access to financial institutions also ensure negotiating power and expertise to negotiate the best conditions for customers, the press release explains.

Due to its growth, the company relocated its headquarters to the Atmos Tower in Zurich in January 2024. There, they have found flexible workspaces in Flexoffice ‘s new co-working centre. Flexoffice will open another co-working space in the new building next to the JED in Schlieren in autumn.

Innovation City opens second life science campus in Reinach

The Basel-based association Innovation City(iCity) is opening its second campus in Reinach. According to its own information, life sciences start-ups will be able to push ahead with their scientific progress and the establishment of their company in the Kägen industrial and commercial area.

The young companies will have access to a “state-of-the-art and optimally equipped life science location” on an area of around 7000 square metres, according to a quote from Melchior Buchs, president of the Reinach municipality.

On two floors, 3,500 square metres are planned for laboratory facilities – both for flex labs and for shared labs in cooperation with the partners Vebego, Move Consultants AG and UBS Sima. The laboratories are standardised according to Biosafety Level 2. Two further floors offer 3400 square metres of coworking space with areas for meeting and networking as well as offices, seminar and strategy rooms.

iCity is an initiative that brings together start-ups, investors and researchers from the life science sector. The expansion is iCity’s response to the growing need for “affordable laboratory facilities in the Basel region that can be used at short notice”, it says.

The family-friendly concept includes daycare places directly on the premises and a dining offer from the Compass Group. The campus is scheduled to open in August 2023.
