Megasol commissions its own solar roofs on its car park

Megasol has converted its parking spaces at the headquarters in Deitingen into a solar carport with 22 charging stations. “We developed it around our proven Nicer X solar roof,” Daniel Sägesser, member of the executive board of Megasol Energie AG, is quoted as saying in a corresponding press release from the internationally active Solothurn-based solar manufacturer. With the Nicer X quick mounting system, the solar modules are snapped into vertically running profiles. The solar roof can be mounted on steel or wooden structures and protects against rain, hail and snow even at low inclinations.

Megasol has given the name Wingport to its solar car park set up at its own headquarters. Mojen Solar GmbH also wants to sell the system with the characteristic outriggers, which is intended for large car parks. “No one has offered us such a well-designed complete system before,” Frank Helmcke, managing director of the German solar company, is quoted as saying in the statement. “Since solar car park roofing is mandatory in many parts of Germany and also France, enquiries have been increasing very strongly for some time.” Here Mojen Solar wants to offer solutions in cooperation with Megasol. In addition to Nicer X, the Solothurn-based solar manufacturer provides all the detailed plans for the overall construction. For their implementation, Mojen Solar works together with other suppliers for the foundation and steel construction.

  • AEW Energie produces solar power on the Isemeyer site

AEW Energie produces solar power on the Isemeyer site

AEW Energie AG has installed and commissioned a 13,000 square metre solar plant with 5000 modules in Rheinfelden. It is located on the roof of the Isemeyer site and is one of the largest in the energy provider’s portfolio.

According to a press release, it generates about 1.9 gigawatt hours of solar power annually. About a third of this is taken directly on site by the leased companies. The rest is fed into the AEW grid.

The plant is operated on a contracting model: it belongs to AEW, which pays for the installation and maintenance costs. In return for providing the space, Soluma AG as the owner will receive a contractually agreed fixed price from AEW for the electricity drawn from the roof for the next 30 years. There are no additional costs for the tenants either. Before the installation of the 5,000 solar panels, the roof of the industrial halls was additionally insulated at AEW’s expense, thus improving the energy efficiency of the building envelope.

Last but not least, the environment also benefits, says AEW. “Because the amount of this installation alone could supply 420 four-person households with electricity for an entire year.”

Magog distributes Meyer Burger solar modules

Meyer Burger Technology AG and Schiefergruben Magog GmbH & Co. KG have concluded a cooperation agreement on the distribution of the new Meyer Burger Slate product. This is a product variant that is suitable for listed buildings and is intended for slate-covered houses. Meyer Burger will supply Magog with it from August.

This small-format, uniformly slate-grey solar roof tile “fits harmoniously into slate roofs and thus makes the energy turnaround possible for listed houses as well”, the responsible division manager Frank Hötzsch is quoted as saying in a media release. “We are very pleased about the cooperation with Magog, a proven expert in the field of slate applications.”

“The new Meyer Burger Slate – Magog Slate Edition is characterised by a high energy yield,” said Georg Guntermann, managing partner of Magog. In addition, he said, it is easy for roofers to install and maintain. Thanks to the use of glare-free, structured solar glass, it can be integrated inconspicuously into the building. According to the information, the first pilot projects will be finalised soon.

  • AMAG Porsche Centre gets solar power

AMAG Porsche Centre gets solar power

On 5 May, the AMAG Group commissioned a photovoltaic (PVA) plant with an output of 87 kilowatts peak on the roof of the Porsche Centre in Winterthur. The new plant is part of a major offensive in which the Group has already set up a whole series of solar plants on the roofs of AMAG operations. By 2025, around 75,000 square metres of surface area are to be equipped with solar panels, informs the automobile trading group headquartered in Cham in a statement. This would be sufficient to cover over 20 per cent of the Group’s electricity requirements. AMAG also aims to achieve climate neutrality by 2025 at the latest.

The new plant on the roof of the Porsche Centre will contribute around 86 megawatt hours of solar power annually towards this goal. “For us, it is a great pleasure that we now not only stand for Porsche’s great products in the Winterthur region, but also for sustainability and climate protection in accordance with the AMAG Group’s strategy,” Marcel Renz, Managing Director of AMAG First AG’s Porsche Centre Winterthur, is quoted as saying in the statement. “Thanks to PVA, we will be able to cover our own electricity needs to a certain extent.”

According to the statement, the AMAG Group is pursuing the goal of becoming the leading provider of sustainable individual mobility. The acquisition last year of the solar company Helion, which specialises in photovoltaics, heat pumps and e-mobility, should also be seen against this background.
