The event was opened by Landammann and Economics Director Urban Camenzind. In his speech, he explained the positive development of the past few years: “A lot is being invested in a very small area, and private and public investments are mutually beneficial. Examples of this are the development around the new cantonal railway station in Altdorf or the tourism development in Andermatt,” says Camenzind.

In the following presentation, Christoph Bugnon, Chairman of the Board of Management of Urner Kantonalbank, discussed the important contribution that the company is making with the new service building to the development around the cantonal railway station. Raphael Krucker, CEO of Andermatt Swiss Alps, portrayed tourism development in Andermatt in his presentation.

In short: the canton of Uri offers the best conditions for entrepreneurial success.»

    SVSM Awards for innovative projects
In addition to the hybrid specialist conferences, the “SVSM Awards” are another focus of the SVSM. These will be awarded again in 2022 after a two-year break due to the pandemic. The awards are aimed at small and large projects – from local to national. The “SVSM Awards” want to make the variety and quality as well as the innovative strength of projects from all over the country visible and thus strengthen the position of the corresponding organizations and initiatives. The “SVSM Awards” are both an incentive and a reward for those involved in the area of location and business development. Projects with a particularly high degree of innovative strength are awarded. Possible examples are location strategies, area developments and corresponding positioning, projects to promote innovation and business clusters, projects to establish or strengthen location brands, promotional activities and campaigns, events that strengthen a location, or organizational development and cooperation models. Applications for the awards are made using an online form. A jury of experts selects the nominated projects from all submissions. The nominees then have the opportunity to present their project to the jury in a virtual session. The announcement of the winning projects and the presentation of the awards will take place as part of the “SVSM Dialogue Economic Promotion” on November 2, 2022.

  • 91st immoTable in St. Gallen

    91st immoTable in St. Gallen

Since last year Maria Pappa has taken over the presidency of the city council of St.Gallen. At the beginning of 2021, she moved to the Internal Affairs and Finance department. Previously, as a city councilor, she was in charge of the planning and construction department. The Vision 2030 with the property, living space and open space strategy are central thermal baths. The communication and participation of the public is actively implemented at events. The focus is on keeping the current resident population and attracting new immigrants and employees. To this end, the city is creating, among other things, a framework loan to build new apartments, developing strategies for criteria for land surrender in building law and adapting the “Regulations for the Promotion of Non-Profit Housing”.

Government councilor Beat Tinner has been a member of the St. Gallen cantonal government since 2020 and heads the economics department of the canton of St. Gallen. With his presentation, Beat Tinner shows that the business location St. Gallen with its broad educational landscape and innovative companies in various areas such as photonics, material technology, precision mechanics, ICT and medical technology is at the cutting edge. The canton has large development reserves and transformation areas that it is promoting. The regional cooperation in the Wild West project with two cantons and two municipalities shows the government’s regional thinking and trade. Also in the case of public transport and mobility, the expansion and connections will be further optimized over the next few years.

For Christian Wick, building is a passion. Creating new things and helping to shape the future while meeting the complex and intricate requirements. His lecture, “Real estate in the field of tension” shows the complexity of the environment, economy and society. The topics of the energy transition in 2050, the circular economy and the choice of materials play a central role. When developing real estate, resources must be conserved, operating energy must be CO2-neutral and use must be carefully considered over the long term. The adaptability of a property is playing an increasingly important role. Christian Wick emphasizes that this development must lead to a simplification of the approval processes. He has been contributing his extensive experience in these areas for years as a member of the management and project developer at Mettler2invest.

Mario Facchinetti is convincing as a driving force in the proptech area. It gave the numerous participants an insight into the rapidly developing digital real estate world. His recommendation to everyone not to wait as the development unfolds exponentially. With his presentation he clearly showed why it is worth investing in innovation.

With the 1st prize for the second campus of the University of St. Gallen, Pascal Flammer impressed with the “House in the Park” project. Flammer’s proposal envisages a building eighty meters long and forty meters wide that stands in the middle of a public park. The six-story building appears light and transparent on the visualizations. In his presentation, Pascal Flammer showed a number of projects that he classified specifically and / or generically. Generic or unspecific means the property of a material or abstract object. A designation, not referring to something specific, i.e. to differentiating characteristics, but on the contrary, to bring out or to represent a whole class or groups, as it were. A very interesting insight into the architecture.

The 91st immoTable was a successful event and we would like to thank all participants. A big thank you also goes to Maria Pappa , Beat Tinner , Christian Wick , Mario Facchinetti and Pascal Flammer for the great and exciting presentations. Thanks also to Patricia Boser for the great moderation. We would also like to take this opportunity to thank our partners Mettler2Invest AG and PropTechMarket for their support! The immoTable event series is now taking its winter break. In 2022 we are looking forward to the immoTables in the regions of Ticino, Zurich and the airport region, French-speaking Switzerland and Basel. We will keep you up to date on our website www.immotable.ch .

  • Baumag construction machinery fair invites you to Lucerne

Baumag construction machinery fair invites you to Lucerne

Specialists from the main and ancillary construction trades can meet from January 13 to 16, 2022 at the 21st Baumag construction machinery trade fair in Lucerne. In the coming year it will be the only specialized trade fair in this sector in Switzerland, according to a press release .

After a three-year break, the exhibition space is already well booked. “This shows that Baumag is an important Swiss presentation platform for the industry,” Exhibition Director Andreas Hauenstein is quoted in the press release.

The exhibitor Baukader Schweiz takes part in a large part of the program. The management organization in the construction industry offers a keynote speech on every day of the fair, including topics such as machine control, sustainability, safety and ecology. In addition to the presentations, there should be a practical part.

The visitors expected a “well-functioning trade fair operation in a familiar environment”. Wearing masks is not necessary thanks to an obligation to show a certificate of vaccination against the coronavirus. Gastronomy offers could be used without restriction and exhibitors serve their visitors at their stands.

The fair takes place regularly every two years. This year, the already fully booked Baumag was canceled due to the corona pandemic.

Global Real Estate Run: Event with follow-up boost

Almost 1,400 participants from 46 countries and 6 continents ran for the “good cause” and set a sustainable example. With the cultivation of 6,000 trees, one for every kilometer covered, approx. 132 tons of CO2 are offset per year.

According to the motto “Do good and talk about it”, the organizers thank all participants and look forward to one or the other great additional commitment as part of the running event sponsored by Homegate AG , SPG Intercity Zurich AG and PropTechMarket in Switzerland. Numerous pictures, insights and experiences were shared on the set up social media wall.

Meno Lammers, founder of the PropTech for Good initiative in the Netherlands, collected a lot of rubbish from the roadside on the 6-kilometer route and thus gave the sustainability initiative its own “green stamp”. Others, on the other hand, used the Global Real Estate Run for their team building and were pleasantly surprised that the team spirit is still absolutely present despite the minimized exchange opportunities during the lockdowns. H&B Real Estate awaited the participating employees in Zurich with a spontaneous Slow Food aperitif and outdoor exchange. BuildingMinds, based in Berlin, used the participation for new employees to not only see their colleagues via virtual collaboration platforms, but also to get to know them personally in corona-compliant teams of two. PriceHubble was represented by 100 employees, friends and families in several countries – in Japan, Tunisia, France, Germany, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Russia, Ukraine and Singapore. Photos and videos were shared on a dedicated Slack channel, thus reawakening the international team spirit even in times of canceled business flights. However, many participants simply enjoyed the run for themselves, as a short break "to ventilate their heads" and to make room for new ideas.

There are no special requirements for participation, only the will to complete 6 kilometers within 24 hours. Alone or with the family, at your own pace or with team support. Every participant is free to run or take a walk. A welcome occasion for a chat among work colleagues, for digital socializing in what seems to be eternal times of social distancing. A pleasant side effect: Exercising in the fresh air is not only good for the soul, one or the other kilogram of body weight due to the corona lockdown can also give way.

Anyone can take part – anywhere in the world. Those interested can register online at globalrealestaterun.com until April 28th. After registering, the participant receives access to a geotagged app. The route can be chosen freely and regardless of location. With this initiative, the organizers want to draw attention to the need for innovations to achieve sustainability goals in the real estate industry. Everyone can contribute something to this. Because sustainability is not a local but a global issue. Just like the Global Real Estate Run. Thanks to the main sponsors Homegate, SPG Intercity Zurich AG and PropTechMarket, a tree will be planted for each participant as a “green” sign.

Virtual real estate fair Home-E-Fair starts

The idea for the Home-E-Fair was born out of necessity, according to a media release. Because the real estate trade fair season has so far completely fallen into the water due to the Covid 19 crisis. Georges Luks, CEO and Delegate of the Board of Directors of Zurich Sotheby's International Realty , explains how the idea came about to replace trade fairs with a physical presence with a virtual one: “In the home office, it became clear to us that such a trade fair could actually be virtual without any problems can take place. With Crowdhouse we were able to set up this pilot project in a short time. We believe that this model will also be relevant in the future and are motivated to set up further virtual trade fairs on an even larger scale. "

At the five-day virtual trade fair from July 22nd, interested parties can log into the trade fair platform from home, study real estate offers, and exchange ideas with consultants via live or video chat. In addition, as at every real estate fair, a number of roundtables and lectures are offered.

At the fair, the partners Zurich Sotheby's International Realty and Crowdhouse complement each other in real estate, from condominiums to multi-family houses, in which Crowdhouse specializes. Ardian Gjeloshi, founder and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Crowdhouse: "Both Zurich Sotheby's International Realty and Crowdhouse speak to the same target group – but from different perspectives: living and investing."
