  • More innovation, more craftsmanship, more opportunities Swissbau 2026

More innovation, more craftsmanship, more opportunities Swissbau 2026

Swissbau has been one of the most important platforms for the construction and property industry for over 50 years. in 2026, it will present itself with new focal points and strategic partnerships. The specialist areas of plaster, paint, dry construction, solar technology and energy storage have been officially included in the programme for the first time. The cooperation with the Swiss Association of Painting and Plastering Contractors (SMGV) is particularly noteworthy, as it provides for an additional expansion of the exhibitor and visitor segment.

The co-operation with the SMGV is reflected in various areas of the trade fair. In addition to new live demos and specialist events, the renowned “Swiss Prize for Plaster and Paint” will also be awarded at the trade fair. These additional formats will ensure stronger industry networking and enable exhibitors to make targeted contact with specialists.

Meeting point for trade: more interaction and Swissness
A new, interactive area for the building trade will be created in Hall 1.0 under the motto “Swissness”. Here, the trade fair organiser wants to place a stronger focus on the skilled trades as a central component of the construction industry and, in particular, inspire young talent for the sector.

A special highlight is the interactive house construction area, where various trades work in parallel and demonstrate their skills. Leading tradesmen will also be presenting their materials, tools and technologies. The neighbouring BauBeiz will be a lively meeting place for professionals, manufacturers and interested parties to exchange ideas. The combination of specialist knowledge, practical demonstrations and networking makes this area an important part of Swissbau 2026.

    Creative staging for more experience
The trend world for interior design will be staged for the first time in Hall 1.2 and offers a modern, high-quality ambience for exhibitors from the bathroom, kitchen, floor/wall/ceiling, lighting and contract furnishing sectors. The redesign will enable stronger content-related networking between the exhibitors and ensure a holistic trade fair experience.

This reorganisation also sees the return of Saturday as a trade fair day – but exclusively for Hall 1.2 and the Swissbau Focus. The extended opening hours will give both trade visitors with a strong professional commitment and private builders another opportunity to visit the trade fair.

    Knowledge transfer and practical solutions
With the established Swissbau Focus and Swissbau Lab, the trade fair continues to focus on interdisciplinary exchange and practical solutions. While Swissbau Focus serves as a platform for political, economic and social discussions, Swissbau Lab offers a place where visitors can discover innovative products and sustainable technologies and try them out for themselves.

Exhibitors also benefit from the new workshop programme, which gives them the opportunity to demonstrate their applications live in a practical environment. This further increases the added value for visitors, as they not only receive information, but can also experience the solutions directly.

  • Successful return of ineltec with a focus on innovation

Successful return of ineltec with a focus on innovation

    A new start that convinces
The return of ineltec was a complete success. The trade fair, which took place on 11 and 12 September 2024 at Messe Zürich, attracted a large number of visitors and impressed both exhibitors and trade visitors. With a clear focus on efficiency and innovation, the trade fair presented its innovations on compact, focussed stands that encouraged direct interaction between visitors and suppliers.

Enormous visitor interest and exciting innovations
ineltec attracted an impressive number of visitors: the halls were already packed on the opening day. Professionals from all over Switzerland crowded around the exhibitors’ latest developments and products. Exhibition Director Noëlle Marti was overwhelmed by the response: “The enormous interest and positive feedback from our visitors exceeded all expectations. It’s a wonderful feeling when our intensive preparatory work pays off in this way.”

Breadth and depth of the range – the right thing for everyone
With a clearly structured trade fair layout and a wide range of exhibitors, ineltec offered something for everyone: whether it was about smart building, the circular economy, electromobility or innovative technologies – trade visitors were able to search specifically for the topics relevant to them and find what they were looking for. The clear layout, which enabled visitors to move efficiently through the various exhibition stands, was particularly appreciated.

Expert knowledge in the Speakers Corner
A highlight of the trade fair was the extensive lecture programme in the Speakers Corner. Here, industry experts presented their latest developments and tools, including on the topics of artificial intelligence, electrical systems and electromobility. The moderated innovation pitches, organised by Electrosuisse, tested the presented technologies for their practical suitability – a valuable source of knowledge for all participants.

    Focus on young talent
ineltec paid particular attention to promoting young talent. A total of 16 training classes visited the trade fair and were given guided tours to gain an insight into the latest developments in the industry and potential career opportunities. The promotion of young talent was supported by EIT.swiss, which presented the winners of a competition with high-quality measuring devices – a motivational boost for the next generation of the electrical industry.

Networking and interaction at the highest level
In addition to the professional highlights, the trade fair also offered space for entertainment and interaction. At the second marketplace, visitors were able to take part in virtual reality simulations, skill tests and interactive demonstrations – an ideal opportunity to exchange ideas with colleagues and experience new technologies up close.

A strong network and supportive partners
EIT.swiss, the professional organisation for the electrical industry, was a strong partner of the trade fair and made a significant contribution to its success. Director Simon Hämmerli was delighted: “ineltec has once again proven that it is the perfect place to promote dialogue and networking within the industry. The large number of visitors shows that interest in technological development is unbroken.”

Ineltec 2024 was a complete success and impressively demonstrated that the industry is lively and forward-looking. With the successful restart, the electrical industry is already looking forward to the next edition, which will take place on 9 and 10 September 2026.

  • IneltecSwiss electrical industry celebrates a powerful comeback

IneltecSwiss electrical industry celebrates a powerful comeback

After a seven-year hiatus, ineltec opens its doors on 11 and 12 September and offers the Swiss electrical industry a central meeting place. Halls 1 and 2 of Messe Zürich are expecting 162 exhibitors and an expert audience who will be able to find out about the latest developments and trends on 11,000 square metres of exhibition space.

Noëlle Marti, the new director of the electrical trade fair, is delighted with the response: “All participants can look forward to full halls at Messe Zürich. We are overwhelmed by all the positive feedback and the rush for tickets.” Ineltec 2024 is more than just a trade fair – it offers a platform for knowledge transfer, networking and innovative technologies.

Focus on innovation and knowledge transfer
The realignment of ineltec aims to concentrate on the essentials. Innovation, knowledge transfer and the direct exchange between people and technologies. In contrast to previous years, oversized stand areas have been deliberately avoided in order to make the event more compact and focussed. The motto “Back to the roots, but with a modern twist” aptly describes the spirit of this year’s trade fair.

Lectures, innovations and workshops will take centre stage from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on both days of the trade fair. The Speakers Corner will be the centre of professional exchange. After the trade fair closes, after-work events invite participants to network in a relaxed atmosphere and reflect on the day’s events.

    In-depth events for professionals
The eleven events organised by industry associations and exhibitors offer detailed insights into current topics in the electrical industry. Whether new planning tools, electrical systems, artificial intelligence or electromobility – professionals can look forward to a wide range of innovations and trends that they can integrate directly into their day-to-day work.

    Special highlight
At the Startup Pitch on Wednesday afternoon, innovative young companies will meet the professional audience. The Startup Academy Switzerland supports the companies through mentoring and promotes dialogue between creative minds and experienced industry experts.

Promoting young talent at the centre of ineltec
Young talent is also the focus of ineltec. Under the auspices of EIT.swiss, guided tours for young talent are organised, allowing students to interact with exhibitors in a fun way and gain insights into the latest technologies. This initiative enables young talents to make their first valuable connections for their professional future and lay the foundations for a career in the electrical industry.

Ineltec offers valuable information and guidance not only to experienced professionals, but also to those just starting out in their careers. On the ineltec.ch website, all visitors will find specific information on 14 current topics in the electrical industry, new products, company profiles and events on offer.

  • Successful 32nd trade fair for the ÖGA 2024

Successful 32nd trade fair for the ÖGA 2024

From June 26 to 28, 2024, numerous experts visited the ÖGA to discover the latest developments in horticulture and landscaping, public green spaces and vegetable and berry cultivation. The trade fair management drew a positive conclusion: the 409 exhibitors praised the high quality of the trade visitors, the visitor frequency and the excellent organization of the event. The live machine demos and the opportunity to test equipment on site were particularly appreciated. The unique park atmosphere also contributed to the success of the trade fair.

    Voices of the exhibitors
Rolf Schüpbach from Ricoter Erdaufbereitung AG emphasized: “ÖGA is the meeting place for the green industry. We appreciate the open and honest exchange and the opportunity to present our innovations. For us, it is also an opportunity to thank our customers.” Jürg Schwab from Robert Aebi Landtechnik AG added: “The fact that we can present our machines outside is what makes the ÖGA so special for us. It also gives us the opportunity to maintain good customer contacts with decision-makers and meet new customers. For us, the ÖGA is the best of all trade fairs.”

    Innovative strength and awards
The industry’s innovative strength was clearly visible at ÖGA 2024. An expert jury selected nine winners of the “Technical Innovations” innovation award from 37 technical innovations submitted – more than ever before. In addition, four new plants were honored with the “New Plants” award. The awards were presented by Christian Stucki, wrestling king and Sportsman of the Year 2019, as part of the official innovation ceremony. Over 180 invited guests from business, politics and exhibitors took the opportunity to exchange ideas and network.

    Constant visitor numbers
The exhibition management was also satisfied with the visitor numbers. A total of 20,350 entries were registered, which is comparable to the last edition in 2022 (20,600 entries). Despite a rainy spring, which delayed many horticulturalists and producers, numerous professionals decided to visit the ÖGA. The behavior of the visitors was particularly pleasing: they were interested and ready to buy. The new location of the construction machinery sector no. 10 was also rated positively by the majority. The more compact exhibition grounds led to a change in the flow of visitors without having to change sides of the road.

    Future of ÖGA
The next ÖGA will take place from June 24 to 26, 2026. As the most important trade fair for professional horticulture, public green spaces, the municipal sector and vegetable and berry cultivation, it is aimed at experts and decision-makers in the industry. The trade fair is organized by the Swiss Gardeners’ Association, the Oeschberg Cantonal Horticultural School and the Swiss Central office for vegetable growing

The successful staging of ÖGA 2024 underlines the importance of this trade fair for the green sector and raises hopes for an equally successful event in 2026.

  • BAU celebrates a successful comeback

    BAU celebrates a successful comeback

“BAU has once again proven that it is and remains the most important stage for innovations and premieres in the building sector. Despite the four-year forced break, more companies presented themselves in Munich than ever before. This underpins the very positive response to trade fairs and, in particular, to leading world trade fairs, as was already evident in 2022,” say the two heads of the trade fair Reinhard Pfeiffer and Stefan Rummel, summing up BAU 2023.

Dieter Schäfer, Chairman of the BAU Exhibitors’ Advisory Council, agrees that BAU 2023 was a great success: “We did everything right by moving BAU 2023 to April. Fully occupied halls and a high proportion of international visitors underline the relevance of BAU. It was all the more important that the fair took place again after more than four years. In future, BAU will return to its usual January date.”

In addition to the Federal Minister of Construction, Klara Geywitz, Bavaria’s Minister of Economic Affairs, Hubert Aiwanger, also took a look at the innovations and trends in the building industry at BAU: “The largest construction and architects’ trade fair is a successful networking platform for planners and building tradesmen. We need the very innovations presented there on how to reconcile climate protection and the challenges such as affordable building and housing. The fair stands for progress, growth and competitiveness and sets the course for the future in building and urban planning.”

For Felix Pakleppa, General Manager of the Central Association of the German Building Trade (Zentralverband des Deutschen Baugewerbes), BAU sends a trend-setting signal to the building industry after the long forced break: “With the key themes of digital transformation, the future of living, resources and recycling, as well as modular building, the biggest challenges and trends of the moment have been perfectly mapped out. This year, BAU thus once again offers a great platform for creating future perspectives.”

Katharina Metzger, President of the Federal Association of the German Building Materials Trade, also considers the return after more than four years a success: “We are more than satisfied with BAU 2023, because such an important sector cannot afford to be without a trade fair platform for six years. Even if important manufacturers for our specialist dealers with their craftsmen were unfortunately not on board this time, we hope that we can count on the old presence of suppliers again in January in 2025.”

Andrea Gebhard, President of the Federal Chamber of Architects, emphasised the important significance of personal exchange: “BAU 2023 reflects the current issues of the building industry. It is the ideal meeting place for architects and planners to discuss both innovative materials of the future and social issues such as affordable housing.”

BAU project manager Matthias Strauss is already looking forward to the upcoming events in the BAU Network: “After the successful BAU, the entire team is already very much looking forward to the digitalBAU conference & networking premiere next July as well as the next digitalBAU in February 2024.”

Internationality of visitors reaches record level
At the top of the international visitor ranking of BAU are Austria, Italy and Switzerland. Thanks to strong growth, Poland and Turkey take fourth and fifth place. Overall, the international share is almost 80,000 visitors. This corresponds to 40 percent of the total number of visitors and marks a record figure. In percentage terms, the international share is thus still a good deal higher than the previous record result from 2019 (37 per cent).

The number of Chinese visitors is particularly noteworthy. With 1,600 people, China is one of the top 10 visitor countries at BAU 2023, a positive surprise after the Corona restrictions on travel from China to foreign countries were only recently relaxed.

  • Cancellation “SVIT Digital Day

    Cancellation “SVIT Digital Day

In 2022, the “SVIT Digital Day” was held in parallel to the aforementioned real estate trade fair at the Zurich Congress Centre. With the discontinuation of this platform, the association has decided to return to the original location “Kosmos Zurich” with the “SVIT Digital Day” in 2023. Unfortunately, the news reached us in December 2022 – and you have certainly also read it in the press – that the operation of “Kosmos Zürich” was discontinued with immediate effect and the balance sheet was deposited with the bankruptcy court because the debt burden and costs were too high. It was no longer possible to put the operation on a sound footing.

The message also has drastic consequences for the “SVIT Digital Day”, because the acquisition of an adequate infrastructure at the same cost and in the same time frame is very difficult and challenging. The time factor in particular has contributed to SVIT Zurich suspending the trade fair day for 2023. In parallel, ideas have emerged in the “SVIT Digital Commission” to create a new networking platform for 2024 in a clean and orderly manner. The event is to be launched in the first half of 2024 and include various topics relating to business. We are convinced that we will be able to create another forward-looking and attractive platform. We would be happy to inform you about the planned intentions and contents if you are interested.

  • Zurich gets loading houses

    Zurich gets loading houses

The Zug -based AMAG Group has set up Switzerland’s first charging station in the Utoquai car park at Färberstrasse 6 in Zurich, the automobile company said in a press release . 50 of the 150 parking spaces in the multi-storey car park were equipped with a charging station. Interested parties can rent such a parking space and charge their electric vehicle. The available price models for parking and charging including electricity are explained on parking.amag.ch .

A good charging infrastructure is becoming increasingly important in view of the increasing number of newly registered electric vehicles, explains Hendrik Lütjens in the press release. “With the Utoquai loading house, AMAG Parking offers residents in Zurich’s Seefeld a sustainable and convenient solution and contributes to the more efficient use of inner-city areas,” says the Managing Director of AMAG Parking AG. “Further multi-storey car parks from AMAG Parking AG will follow, further facilitating the switch to electromobility.”

AMAG intends to open its next loading house in the Kongress parking garage in Zurich this month. A total of 28 charging stations are planned here. In the fall, the AMAG Group plans to install a further 61 charging stations in the Messe Zürich multi-storey car park in Oerlikon.

  • The flooring industry meets again

    The flooring industry meets again

National and international exhibitors show their products, services, innovations and trends on the topic of flooring in a practical way. In this way, trade visitors can find information and inspiration personally on site and ultimately the right partners for future projects. An attractive supporting program with the BodenFORUM completes the trade fair. In the BodenFORUM, industry experts impart the latest specialist knowledge for architecture, interior design and craftsmanship. Keynote speakers will shed light on the latest focus topics in the industry and exhibitors will present their most exciting solutions to match.

    Important industry meeting point
“For known reasons, we had to wait a long time to be able to hold the trade fair. We can finally make this meeting place possible for the flooring industry again," stresses exhibition manager Ursula Gerber. She is particularly pleased about this, because there is a great need for an industry meeting place where people can exchange ideas personally. Ursula Gerber explains: "Due to the effects of the pandemic, personal contact has only been possible to a limited extent in the past two years. This showed how important this is for successful construction projects and business initiations.»

    supplemented by digital channels
The Suisse Floor has been further developed since the last event in order to position it in the digital age. "We're focusing even more on the exhibitors and their skills," says the trade fair manager. And not only on the Suisse Floor itself, but also before and after on the new digital channels. "Our exhibitors gain attention from the target audience, reach new customers and more visitors at their stand," she explains. Visitors can already find new and exciting products or solutions on the trade fair website, which will then be presented on the Suisse Floor.

  • The SVIT real estate fair and Digital Day 2022

The SVIT real estate fair and Digital Day 2022

The Zurich Real Estate Days took place from March 18th to 20th. Under the roof of the newly renovated congress center, the “SVIT Immobilien-Messe”, the “SVIT Digital Day” and the “Digital Kompass Schweiz” were held there for the first time. Over the three days, there were a total of more than 2,500 visitors and more than 50 exhibitors at the fair.

The “SVIT Immobilien-Messe” was held for the twelfth time and was a complete success. Due to the intensive construction activities in the economic area of Zurich, the fair has found its place in the agenda of visitors. Those interested in home ownership or first-time rentals found what they were looking for at the “SVIT Immobilien-Messe”, because existing properties and properties that are only in the planning stage are also presented.

For the third time, but for the first time combined with the SVIT real estate trade fair, the “SVIT Digital Day” took place on Friday, March 18, 2022. The latest digital trends for the real estate industry were shown by around 40 exhibitors. The practice-oriented specialist presentations by Joel Hadwiger (Sales Manager casavi), Luc Zehnder (Account Executive Intrum AG) and Erich Birchler (CEO BMT AG) were also very exciting.

The “Digital Compass Switzerland” is an innovation of the SVIT Zurich. The tool accompanies real estate players on the way to digital transformation, because the efficiency of a real estate company depends heavily on its software and its interfaces. The SVIT platform shows specific applicable solutions that are specifically tailored to the Swiss real estate industry.

We look forward to all upcoming SVIT events.

MIPIM 2022: Between desire and reality

    [smartslider3 slider=”4″]

MIPIM 2022 took place from March 15th to 18th – and it was far from the industry euphoria of three years ago under the impression of a conflict almost 2,000 kilometers away. While the Ukraine was at least visually represented with a mostly deserted stand, there was hardly a trace of Russia or Russian cities. Only a few obvious gaps in the trade fair room allocation indicated that there had also been cancellations at short notice.

    Interest rates are rising again…
The industry buzzwords ESG, impact investing and interest rates were also part of the discussions in many places. From the Federal Reserve Bank in the USA alone, further interest rate hikes are expected this year, which would result in key interest rates of just under two percent at the end of the year. The market assumes that other central banks (UK, EU, CH) will follow suit, albeit with a time lag. For Switzerland, this means that negative interest rates will soon be a thing of the past. In the case of ten-year federal bonds, a value of 0.425 percent was already reached on the Wednesday of the fair (March 16, 2022) – a level that was last recorded at the end of 2014.

… and what next for decarbonization?
The topic of sustainable or green investments was also represented in many MIPIM panels and discussions. But even if there are now many options for measuring sustainability as well as certificates and labels: the coming years will challenge the construction and real estate industry on many levels. On the side of the energy sources alone, the change away from fossil fuels to renewable ones has added another dimension with the Ukraine-Russia conflict. It is now time to reassess the oil and gas factors in the real estate industry’s decarbonization efforts. It remains to be seen whether this will ultimately lead to oil and gas heating systems being discarded sooner in this country.

    Farewell to old braids
Other significant changes are also becoming apparent in the traditional asset classes. The traditional real estate classifications such as residential, office and retail are becoming more diverse. This has already been shown in recent years thanks to online shopping, coworking and coliving. The hospitality forum on the Thursday of the trade fair, for example, showed that there is also something new happening in the hotel industry. Swiss Life Asset Managers announced the new camping investment class there and is even considering launching its own fund product in this area. In general, it can be said that the star classifications are becoming less important for hotel users, with the focus increasingly being on the extraordinary experience, special locations and trips close to nature and the local people.

    Propel Awards for newcomers
The four winners of the PropTech competition Propel were also chosen this year at the real estate fair in Cannes: From the 20 finalists, centralF (optimization tool for workplaces) in the data category, Apricot (leasing for homebuyers) in the investment category, OakTree Power ( Demand optimization for building energies) in the sustainability category and Parametric Solutions (software solution for project developments) in the user experience category. A Swiss proptech startup was not represented in the global competition.

    Swiss project wins MIPIM competition
On the evening of the Thursday of the fair, however, there was an award for an outstanding Swiss construction project: the Musée Atelier Audemars Piguet in Le Brassus received an award in the “Best Cultural and Sports Infrastructure” category. The museum extension designed by the Danish Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG) includes a new glass structure that integrates into the landscape by means of two spiral structures. Inside, the museum offers a glimpse into the history of watchmaking in the Vallée de Joux.

25th anniversary of Swiss exhibition stands
The two Swiss networks Swiss Circle for German-speaking Switzerland and Horizon Léman for western Switzerland also had something to celebrate this year. The exhibition stand organizers and initiators Roman H. Bolliger and Yves de Coulon were delighted to receive congratulations and two “birthday cakes” from the MIPIM organizer RX on their 25th anniversary. The handover took place after the MIPIM event “Forum Suisse”, where Swiss industry players from Swiss Prime Site, Mobimo, M3 and Wüest Partner discussed the topic of “mobility and its consequences for the real estate industry”. In 2022, more than 50 companies from Switzerland used the two trade fair platforms Swiss Circle and Horizon Léman for international exchange on the Côte d’Azur.

  • The Swiss Immo Fair will not take place in 2022

The Swiss Immo Fair will not take place in 2022

April 2022 statt.

  • Baumag construction machinery fair invites you to Lucerne

Baumag construction machinery fair invites you to Lucerne

Specialists from the main and ancillary construction trades can meet from January 13 to 16, 2022 at the 21st Baumag construction machinery trade fair in Lucerne. In the coming year it will be the only specialized trade fair in this sector in Switzerland, according to a press release .

After a three-year break, the exhibition space is already well booked. “This shows that Baumag is an important Swiss presentation platform for the industry,” Exhibition Director Andreas Hauenstein is quoted in the press release.

The exhibitor Baukader Schweiz takes part in a large part of the program. The management organization in the construction industry offers a keynote speech on every day of the fair, including topics such as machine control, sustainability, safety and ecology. In addition to the presentations, there should be a practical part.

The visitors expected a “well-functioning trade fair operation in a familiar environment”. Wearing masks is not necessary thanks to an obligation to show a certificate of vaccination against the coronavirus. Gastronomy offers could be used without restriction and exhibitors serve their visitors at their stands.

The fair takes place regularly every two years. This year, the already fully booked Baumag was canceled due to the corona pandemic.

  • EXPO REAL 2021 – Successful restart

EXPO REAL 2021 – Successful restart

“There was an atmosphere of confidence that could be felt everywhere in the exhibition halls. 1,198 exhibitors and over 19,200 participants made intensive use of the three days at EXPO REAL to advance future projects, obtain information and maintain their network, ”explains Klaus Dittrich, CEO of Messe München. “Compared to the record years before Corona, the trade fair is of course smaller. But the new start was successful and EXPO REAL has once again proven itself to be Europe’s most important real estate fair. ”The precondition for success was the detailed protection and hygiene concept of Messe München.

Valuable network to cope with future tasks
“EXPO REAL 2021 will perhaps be remembered as the most important trade fair of the last decade, because it made it clear to all stakeholders that the major tasks of the future – climate change, transformation, digitization – can only be mastered through joint efforts across all areas can be. It’s good that the industry was able to gain confidence for three days in Munich. The timing was spot on, ”explains Fabian Hellbusch, Head of Marketing and Communication at Union Investment Real Estate. This is confirmed by Chiara Aengevelt, managing partner of Aengevelt Immobilien: “EXPO REAL is Europe’s most important meeting place for the real estate industry and the starting signal for year-end business. We used that – personally and in presence. At the same time, the density of decision-makers and executives is particularly high this year, the quality of the discussions is very good. “And Constanze Römer, project manager of the Berlin-Brandenburg stand, says:” After the months of corona-related planning uncertainty, we are happy to welcome our co-exhibitors and partners to be able to offer this platform for your business again. It is nice to see that we can enjoy a conversation again together that we have all missed for so long. “

Interest rate development, climate protection, social component
As usual, the conference program offered a wide range of information on markets and segments, on digital innovations – and of course also on fundamental developments. “Expo Real 2021 made it clear that the German real estate market is still highly attractive and has even largely defied the Corona crisis,” explains Dr. Gertrud Traud, chief economist at Helaba Landesbank Hessen-Thüringen. That will tend to continue as long as interest rates remain low. “I expect the first interest rate hike from Christine Lagarde, ECB, at the end of 2023,” the expert predicted in her keynote. Dr. Holger Schmieding, chief economist at the private bank Berenberg, very clearly: “Not yet in sight.”

In many forums it became clear that the industry plays a key role in climate protection: “A comprehensive turn towards climate protection will not be possible without the real estate sector,” said Prof. Matthias Garschagen, Chair of Anthropogeography at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich and continued. “At the same time, the sector plays a central role in successful adaptation to climate change, for example with regard to dealing with increasing heat or heavy rainfall in cities.” Urban development has a strong social component – especially when it comes to housing. It is important “to organize this central function of our life in such a way that appropriate offers can be made available for the different ways of life and life plans, also for the different milieus of society”, says Prof. Dr. Armin Nassehi, Chair for General Sociology and Social Theory, also at Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich.

    EXPO REAL 2021 in numbers
Over 19,200 participants from 52 countries (2019: 46,747 / 76) came to EXPO REAL in Munich. The total number of participants was divided into 9,916 trade visitors (2019: 22,065) and 9,296 company representatives (2019: 24,682).
