    According to a press release , Hälg Facility Management AG , based in the St.GallenBodenseeArea, has bought Zurich-based Etavis Facility Services AG . With the takeover, Hälg intends to expand in the Facility Management division in the Zurich region.

    According to the press release, Etavis Facility Services has a strong customer service culture and many years of industry experience in the maintenance and repair of building technology systems. The specialist for building management becomes part of the Hälg branch in Zurich. The workforce will be fully taken over. “With the integration of the team in Zurich, we are gaining the expertise and network of the employees,” says Markus Haldimann, Managing Director of Hälg Facility Management AG. “We are thus further strengthening our facility management services.”

    The company merger leads to a change of name: Etavis Facility Services gives up the company name. Both companies will be called Hälg Facility Management AG in the future.

    Bühler builds technology center for milling in Uzwil

    Bühler is replacing its old application center at the Uzwil site, which dates back to the 1950s, with a new one. From 2024, Bühler intends to work with its customers and partners to develop, test and scale sustainable and efficient solutions for grain and animal feed processing in the new Grain Innovation Center. The technology company from the St.GallenBodenseeArea is investing a double-digit million amount for this.

    Among other things, the new building will offer an integrated cleaning and grinding process for all types of grain, a feed grinding process for all types of compound feed and a research and development department. According to the information, the old building no longer meets the requirements for a future-oriented and safe environment for customer-specific tests and developments.

    In addition, the machines, processes and a modern teaching infrastructure for digital and on-site customer training are to be housed there. The training center will be attached to the existing Application & Training Center, the Cubic Innovation Campus inaugurated in 2018, the Bühler Energy Center and the recently announced Protein Application Center, which is still to be built.

    “All new developments will come from the new Grain Innovation Center. Bühler will continue to keep this important part of its research in Uzwil,” Peter Striegl, Head of Innovation Milling Solutions, is quoted as saying.

    The Bauwerk Group acquired Somerset Hardwood Flooring from Somerset in the US state of Kentucky at the beginning of May. As a result of the takeover, Bauwerk is generating annual sales of around 400 million Swiss francs, making it the global market leader for quality parquet. The two transaction partners have agreed not to disclose the financial details of the takeover.

    With the takeover, Bauwerk intends to strengthen its own presence in the USA and Canada. The new acquisition, which specializes in solid parquet, can also benefit from Bauwerk’s expertise in multi-layer parquet, writes the Bauwerk Group. Somerset Hardwood Flooring will remain as a brand under the new owner. The brand will be managed by former Somerset Hardwood Flooring sales manager Paul Stringer.

    Baumer is investing in its innovative strength for the second time in just a few years, following the opening of the new high-tech center in Stockach in southern Germany in 2018.     When it comes to sustainability and energy efficiency, the Innovation Center is set to become a showcase project. A complete solar building envelope is planned for power generation. Geothermal probes and a heat pump are to temper the building. Baumer will obtain further CO2-neutral electricity from Swiss hydropower.

Two-day celebrations with a corresponding program were planned for the opening, but this was prevented by the Corona crisis. “Nevertheless, we will open on November 28, 2020 and start operating the distillery, the premium B&B, the event location and the honesty bar with cigar lounge. Countless people have worked intensively towards this in the last few months, ”Martina Bössow, owner of Macardo Swiss Distillery GmbH, is quoted in the press release.

    At the opening, the shop, which is also integrated in the new building, will be available to visitors. Fine brandies, Macardo disinfectants and a “world first for all whiskey fans”, as von Bössow put it, are offered there. And from November 30th, small groups of six people will be offered free guided tours for which registration is required.

    The new building was built around a cheese factory that is more than 100 years old. At the distillery, the focus is on craftsmanship, which is underlined by a sustainable process. Modern technology is also used in the drum store, which ensures an optimal room climate for the 400 barrels. In addition to the bar and lounge, shop and the event room, ten rooms and two apartments with a bed-and-breakfast offer (B&B) are also available for visitors.
