    Energy City Gold for Zurich

The city of Zurich has been awarded the Energy City Gold label for the sixth time in 2024, the city administration announced in a press release. Every four years, the Energy City Association awards the label to cities and municipalities that are committed to ambitious energy and climate protection goals. In the current evaluation, the city of Zurich achieved its best result to date.

Across Switzerland, 109 cities and municipalities have been awarded the Energy City Gold label. “As the largest city in Switzerland, the city of Zurich serves as a role model for other energy cities that also want to consistently achieve their ambitious energy and climate policy goals,” Katrin Bernath, President of the Energy City Association, is quoted in the press release from her speech at the award ceremony. The award was accepted by City Councillor Michael Baumer. “The top score for the city of Zurich shows that we are on the right path to net zero,” said the head of the City of Zurich’s industrial operations.

In the current re-audit, the City of Zurich’s energy and climate targets also included the area of climate adaptation for the first time. Zurich scored highly here with its specialised planning for heat reduction and urban trees. The city has also launched a programme for urban greening. This programme supports and financially promotes the ecologically valuable upgrading of outdoor spaces, green roofs and vertical greening by providing advice.

Meier Tobler Group AG sells Lüftungshygiene AG to Hälg Group

Meier Tobler Lüftungshygiene AG, founded in 2009, has established itself as an independent company with 25 employees at two locations. Despite its success, it remained a niche business within Meier Tobler. Due to the increasing focus on core areas, Meier Tobler decided to sell the company to the Hälg Group in June 2024. Roger Basler, CEO of Meier Tobler, comments: “We are delighted to have found the ideal buyer in the Hälg Group. Its strategic direction is a perfect fit and we are convinced that our employees will be optimally integrated into the Hälg team.”

    Leading company in ventilation cleaning
The Hälg Group is pursuing a targeted growth strategy and sees an increasing demand for hygiene solutions and clean air. It is already active in the field of ventilation cleaning at its sites in Bern, Zurich and St. Gallen. The acquisition of Meier Tobler Lüftungshygiene AG will enable the company to significantly expand its team of experts and utilise additional synergies. The aim is to become the market leader in ventilation cleaning. Sandro Keller, CEO Building Technology at the Hälg Group, explains: “The takeover will enable us to almost triple our capacity in ventilation cleaning and strengthen the organisation. This will significantly expand our expertise and put us in a position to take on large mandates in the future.”

    Hälg Group bundles its expertise
In order to exploit its full potential and position itself optimally on the market, the Hälg Group is combining its activities in a new organisational unit. Under the umbrella of Service Schweiz, Hälg & Co. AG Lüftungsreinigung will offer its services throughout Switzerland under the management of Cyrill Rohner. All employees of Meier Tobler Lüftungshygiene AG are to be taken over.

Cyrill Rohner, member of the Hälg Group’s Building Technology Management Board, is delighted about the new addition: “We want to grow in the service sector and also see opportunities in ventilation cleaning. • Switzerland Innovation Park Basel Area receives four new buildings

Switzerland Innovation Park Basel Area receives four new buildings

The Switzerland Innovation Park Basel Area in Allschwil will more than double in size in stages by 2028. The private investor Senn Resources from St.Gallen is investing around 350 million Swiss francs in the four new buildings planned. Together with the main building, which opened a year ago, they will form the Main Campus site. The Switzerland Innovation Park Basel Area also has two other sites: the Jura site in Courroux and the Novartis Campus in Basel.

As with the main building, three of the four new buildings will be designed by architects Herzog & de Meuron, according to a press release from the Innovation Park. The “radically sustainable” Hortus office building is already under construction and is scheduled for completion in 2025. The All and Cloud laboratory and office buildings are in the planning stage. The public-facing Hope building was developed in collaboration with the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute. Senn is building it with Basel architects Felippi Wyssen, who won the anonymous competition.

“It is extremely gratifying that the partnership of a public and private institution has made it possible to build an innovation district of this size,” said Raymond Cron, Managing Director of the national umbrella organisation Switzerland Innovation. “This means that not only the life sciences location of Basel, but also the nationwide network of Switzerland Innovation ‘s six parks is gaining in importance.” “With Senn,” says Christof Klöpper, CEO of Basel Area Business & Innovation and CEO of Switzerland Innovation Park Basel Area, “a private partner is making a major contribution to attracting innovative companies to the region and supporting the objectives of Switzerland Innovation.”

The event was moderated by Monika Schärer, who confidently guided the guests through the afternoon. After a brief welcome, Arun Banovi, owner of immo!nvest/immoTable, and Christoph Lang, managing director of FRZ Flughafenregion Zürich, were briefly asked about the economic region and the connection with immo!nvest.

In addition, Fabian Streiff from the Zurich Business Development Agency gave the first presentation and presented the region in more detail. From this it emerged that the canton of Zurich is a globally significant hub for artificial intelligence (AI). He also introduced us to the innovation hubs in the Zurich airport region, including the Digital Health Center (Bülach), The Circle (Kloten) and the Zurich Innovation Park (Dübenorf).

As the second speaker, Hans Egloff, President of HEV Switzerland, brought us closer to the topic of digitization in the real estate industry. Using various examples, he explained the opportunities and risks of digitization. For example, the AHV number serves as a personal identifier in the electronic land register and this entails a large group of authorized users and thus a large potential for misuse.

Before the break, Tindaro Milone, Head of Large Plants, presented the EKZ and explained what is currently happening in the energy sector. For example, the scarcity of resources, climate change, politics and customer needs. He then presented the future of energy, it is mainly about decarbonization, digitization and decentralization. Of course, sustainability is also a topic that is very topical and will continue to occupy you in the future. He completed his presentation on the subject of electricity storage.

After the first part of the program there was a break that was used for the first talks. There were also cool drinks, refreshing fruits and delicious cakes.

This was followed by Dadvan Yousuf, who introduced us to his platform “Dohrnii”, where everyone can easily learn about cryptocurrencies in a playful way. The presentation also included the Dohrnii Markplace, the DHN Token and the Dohrnii DAO. Finally, he made the connection and opportunities between cryptocurrencies and the real estate industry.

Then Christoph Axmann, Chartered Surveyor MRICS at Wüest Partner, came on stage. With overviews of the population and employment development, he showed the demand in the Glattal-Furttal region. Then he showed which offer can be used to cover inquiries. Below that are investments, quantities, supply in relation to inventory and prices. Finally, he showed the development potential in the airport region.

The last speaker was René Götz from the business development department of the city of Bülach. He introduced the business location Bülach, showed the positioning, spoke about the goals and available development areas. The key sectors of the region, the space requirements of companies and the Digital Health Center Bülach were also included in the presentation.

The crowning glory was the exciting panel discussion with Doris Meier (Mayor of Bassersdorf), Christoph Lang (Managing Director of the FRZ Zurich Airport Region), Fabian Streiff (Local Promotion Canton of Zurich) and Heinz Eberhard (Eberhard companies).

During the aperitif with delicious appetizers and ice cream, there was a lot of networking. The atmosphere was very good and relaxed. Especially when the draw for the competition was due. You could win a trip to the Top of Europe – Jungfrau Joch with overnight stay and dinner for 2 people. This great prize was sponsored by eSMart, which celebrated its 10th anniversary last year. Monika Schärer made it exciting and presented the award to the delighted winner Markus Nussbaum.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all guests and speakers for the exciting afternoon. A big thank you also goes to the Eventalm for the great and flexible organization, the friendly service and the delicious treats. But we don’t want to forget our partners either, without you such an event would not have been possible! Thanks to EKZ, eternit, eSMART, Seitzmeir, Sunrise, SVIT Zurich, Rigips, PropTechMarket, Woonig and FRZ.

We hope to see some of you in Lausanne on October 6th and in Basel on November 24th. Until then, we wish you a nice summer!

The event was opened by Landammann and Economics Director Urban Camenzind. In his speech, he explained the positive development of the past few years: “A lot is being invested in a very small area, and private and public investments are mutually beneficial. Examples of this are the development around the new cantonal railway station in Altdorf or the tourism development in Andermatt,” says Camenzind.

In the following presentation, Christoph Bugnon, Chairman of the Board of Management of Urner Kantonalbank, discussed the important contribution that the company is making with the new service building to the development around the cantonal railway station. Raphael Krucker, CEO of Andermatt Swiss Alps, portrayed tourism development in Andermatt in his presentation.

Finally, Mario Epp, Uri Business Development Agency, explained the advantages of the Uri economic area: «We have an optimal cost environment, short distances to the decision-makers and are excellently developed, directly on the European north-south axis. In short: the canton of Uri offers the best conditions for entrepreneurial success.»

The subsequent network aperitif with the construction and real estate industry rounded off the event. The current issue of our magazine «immo!invest» is linked to the event. It aims to show the positive developments in the canton of Uri and to get people interested in Uri as a location.

  • ACRON acquires certified sustainable office property in Leudelange, Luxembourg

ACRON acquires certified sustainable office property in Leudelange, Luxembourg

“With our participation in the fully rented office building WOODEN, designed according to the ecological state of the art, we are offering German investors, among others, a direct investment in a sustainable property. By investing in this project, investors have the best prospects for a stable and promising investment," says Kai Bender, Managing Director of ACRON GmbH.

Wooden SA is the owner of the WOODEN office property, whose floor space of 9,462 m² is fully let to renowned financial companies. Among other things, the building will house the headquarters of Bâloise Assurances Luxembourg. The Baloise leases around 82 percent of the total floor space for up to 15 years. The remaining 18 percent will be used by the CLE (Compagnie Luxembourgeoise d'Entreprises) until at least the end of 2028.

The first wooden office building of this size in Luxembourg is a "pioneer project" at a desirable location in Leudelange. The growing importance and rapid development have already made Leudelange the most important conurbation in Luxembourg and one of the top locations for real estate in the country.

The tenants are expected to be able to move into their office space from the end of 2022.

This investment opportunity is open to semi-professional and professional investors from Germany via ACRON LUX REAL ESTATE I SCS (ISIN: LU2399210942), which was founded specifically for this purpose. After the investment in this club deal has been fully placed with 10 to 15 investors, the composition of the group of investors will probably not change until the exit. The company's goal is to develop WOODEN, hold and manage the property and later sell it for a profit.

BREEAM is the world's leading certification system for sustainable construction, which includes the entire life cycle of buildings – from new construction to use and maintenance. WOODEN was rated "BREEAM Excellent". The WELL Building Standard was developed to promote health and well-being in buildings worldwide. The types of wood used in the property come exclusively from sustainable forestry from PEFC-certified forests in the greater Luxembourg area. For every tree felled, one or two new ones are planted.
