    Collaboration has always been the defining theme of Swissbau: meeting in person, acting together, helping each other move forward. For the next edition in January 2026, the trade fair organizer is increasingly focusing on positive synergies. Joint development is not only practiced in the Swissbau Focus & Lab collaboration platforms, the exhibition areas of the trade fair have also moved closer together both spatially and thematically. This is particularly evident in the newly staged Hall 1.2, which provides an atmospheric stage for the entire interior design sector.

    Trend world interior design for design enthusiasts
    Newly positioned in Hall 1.2, the Swissbau public will encounter a world of bathroom innovations, trendy surfaces, atmospheric lighting and high-quality contract furnishings. The shared level for interior design offers space for discoveries and an in-depth exchange with renowned manufacturers and new brands. The highlight: the new Trend World in Hall 1.2 is also open on Saturday. Thanks to the Swissbau Focus with partner lounges, info points and events, the weekend visit leads directly to the Trend World via escalators.

    Experience the trade up close
    Swissbau’s eye-catchers in Hall 1.0 on the first floor are undoubtedly two real construction projects that are being built and developed in parallel by various trade businesses. In a steel hall, metalworkers, electricians, gate and door builders demonstrate their skills. In the two-storey residential building, woodworkers, plasterers and tilers can be seen at work. Both buildings will be completed on the construction site after Swissbau. The “Treffpunkt Handwerk” has even more to offer: In addition to playful activity areas and a forum with practical topics, craft businesses and topic-specific exhibitors will be presenting themselves in the surrounding area. A spacious BauBeiz invites you to talk shop.

    Benefit from the exchange with experts
    Swissbau Focus in Hall 1.0 and Swissbau Lab in Hall 1.1 are the best examples of an interdisciplinary dialog on current challenges and future trends in the industry.
    Leading associations, institutions and universities will contribute their positions to the Swissbau Focus event platform. Trade visitors can discover and try out suitable products and market-ready solutions in the Swissbau Lab. Visitors will also benefit from an enlarged Swissbau Workshop, where they can scrutinize innovative applications in practice. Participation in the extensive program in the Swissbau Focus and Lab is included in the admission ticket.     A colorful marketplace for plaster and paint
    A new-born cooperation with the Swiss Painting and Plastering Contractors’ Association SMGV offers insights into innovative techniques, high-quality materials and sustainable solutions in the creative sector in Hall 1.1. With its presence at the multi-industry trade fair, the association aims to position itself more strongly with architects, planners and other construction professionals. Highlights of the themed area include the “Swiss Prize for Plaster and Paint” exhibition and award ceremony on January 22 in the Swissbau Focus, live training sessions by two newly crowned Swiss champions for the WorldSkills in Shanghai, the “SMGV-Marktblitz Spezial” industry get-together on January 21 and 23 and a “Maler-Gipser-Stübli” for personal discussions. The SMGV training centers will present practical examples of their diverse industry sectors. In the painter-plasterer workshop, experienced craftsmen will show how facades are designed with decorative plaster structures.

    Valuable partnerships
    Before exhibitors and partners take command of the halls on Tuesday morning and unveil their innovations, Swissbau will be opened by Bauenschweiz, the umbrella organization of the Swiss construction industry. In discussions with people from politics and business, the core group of the finishing trade and building envelope, as the industry with the highest turnover, will focus on its importance, needs and further development at the opening ceremony. The continued relevance of Swissbau in 2026 is also demonstrated by renowned partnerships. The Swiss Society of Engineers and Architects (SIA), the Swiss brand LAUFEN and the new partner Abacus Business Solutions are making a major commitment and contributing their specialist expertise to the trade fair’s offering.

    Swissbau under new management
    Rudolf Pfander has been at the helm of Swissbau for 25 years and has successfully led it into the modern era. In order to take on new tasks for MCH Exhibitions & Events after the 2026 edition, he handed over the reins to his deputy Tobias Hofmeier in September. The 36-year-old from Lörrach has been in charge of Swissbau project management and the successful development of the Swissbau Focus and Lab collaboration platforms since 2020. Rudolf Pfander emphasizes: “Tobias is the perfect successor for Swissbau. He knows the needs of exhibitors, partners and visitors inside out and is also aware of the future development opportunities for the trade fair.”

    Sascha Wyss (Primeo Netz AG) explained that a stable transmission grid only works if production and consumption are in balance. Modern buildings require intelligent networking, redundancy and flexibility in order to ensure a sustainable energy supply.

    After the presentations, participants were able to experience the uptownBasel building Pioneer and the uptownBasel substation live. A subsequent networking aperitif provided the perfect opportunity to exchange ideas with experts from the sector.

    Aussteller der Swissbau 2026 erhalten in diesen Wochen ihren Platzierungsvorschlag. Keine einfache Aufgabe für die Messeverantwortlichen – gibt es doch sehr viel Neues an der nächsten Ausgabe. Das Team der Swissbau hat die beliebte Mehrbranchenmesse mit neuen Ideen gespickt, um grosse und kleine Marken für eine Teilnahme zu begeistern.

    Treffpunkt Handwerk mit «Swissness»
    In Halle 1.0 bietet ein lebendiger Treffpunkt für das Handwerk dem vielfältigen Wirtschaftszweig eine starke Lobby. Highlight der 2500 Quadratmeter grossen Fläche ist der Bau eines doppelstöckigen Holzhauses und einer modernen Stahlhalle von verschiedenen, parallel arbeitenden Gewerken. Zum Austausch und Fachsimpeln bietet die BauBeiz ausreichend Platz. Berufsstolz steht hier hoch im Kurs, genau wie auf den spielerischen Aktionsflächen daneben.

    Neue Kooperationen für mehr Vielfalt
    Nicht nur in Halle 1.1 führt eine neugeborene Kooperation mit dem Schweizerischen Maler- und Gipserunternehmer-Verband SMGV zu verschiedenen Inszenierungen. Live-Demos, Trainings, Veranstaltungen sowie Ausstellung und Auszeichnung des renommierten «Schweizer Preis für Putz und Farbe» mobilisieren die kreative Branche und bieten Herstellern ein attraktives Umfeld zur Produktpräsentation.

    Eine neue Plattform für den Innenausbau
    Die grösste Veränderung betrifft die designorientierte Trendwelt, die von Halle 2.2 in die modernere Halle 1.2 umzieht. Messeleiter Rudolf Pfander erzählt: «Die Trendwelt Bad wird auf den Innenausbau erweitert. Aussteller profitieren von einem hochwertigen Ambiente sowie neuen Synergien der Bereiche Bad, Boden/Wand/Decke, Licht, Büro- und Objekteinrichtung auf einer gemeinsamen Ebene.» Ein zusätzlicher Vorteil: Nur die Trendwelt hat am Samstag für unter der Woche ausgelastete Fachbesucher sowie private Eigentümerinnen und Bauherren geöffnet.

    Seit 25 Jahren leitet Rudolf Pfander die Geschicke der Swissbau und führte sie erfolgreich in die Neuzeit. Um nach der Ausgabe 2026 neue Aufgaben bei MCH Exhibitions & Events zu übernehmen, übergibt er bereits diesen September die Nachfolge an seinen Stellvertreter Tobias Hofmeier. Der 36jährige Lörracher lenkt seit 2020 das Swissbau Projektmanagement sowie die erfolgreiche Entwicklung der Kollaborations-Plattformen Swissbau Focus und Lab.

    With a clear focus on content and new formats, Swissbau Lab 2026 is sending out a strong signal. The transformation of the construction and real estate industry will no longer just be discussed, but brought to life. The four key topics “Smart technologies”, “Digitalization in the planning and construction process”, “Circular economy” and “Climate change” structure the programme. Current challenges meet real solutions, which are jointly designed by partners from business, science and start-ups.

    The event starts with a clear appeal to the industry. Tobias Hofmeier and Fabian Cortesi emphasize the role of Swissbau Labs as a networking platform for thinking and implementing the most pressing issues of the present. In 2026, the innovation workshop will not only be larger in terms of space, but also more in-depth in terms of content. The newly created workshop area in particular will create space for direct experience, practical applications and new technologies. This will be hands-on, interactive and directly on site. An additional trade fair day on Saturday will also focus more on interior design and contact with end customers.

    From January 20 to 23, 2026, Messe Basel will be the meeting place for the Swiss construction and real estate industry. The Swissbau Lab in Hall 1.1, a space for ideas, innovations and new partnerships, will take center stage. Topics such as the circular economy, digital planning opportunities, changing construction processes and climate protection will shape the discussions. The start of the program design on 6 May 2025 marks the beginning of an intensive phase of concept development to which companies, associations and institutions are invited.

    Workshop as a springboard for innovation
    The kick-off workshop on May 6, 2025 in Zurich marks the beginning. Both confirmed and interested companies will receive all the information they need about the concept and opportunities to participate in Swissbau Lab. Those responsible for the trade fair will coordinate the subsequent program development. First in plenary sessions, then in specific thematic groups. Short-term registrations for the workshop are possible until May 2, 2025.

    Swissbau has been one of the most important platforms for the construction and property industry for over 50 years. in 2026, it will present itself with new focal points and strategic partnerships. The specialist areas of plaster, paint, dry construction, solar technology and energy storage have been officially included in the programme for the first time. The cooperation with the Swiss Association of Painting and Plastering Contractors (SMGV) is particularly noteworthy, as it provides for an additional expansion of the exhibitor and visitor segment.

    The co-operation with the SMGV is reflected in various areas of the trade fair. In addition to new live demos and specialist events, the renowned “Swiss Prize for Plaster and Paint” will also be awarded at the trade fair. These additional formats will ensure stronger industry networking and enable exhibitors to make targeted contact with specialists.

    Meeting point for trade: more interaction and Swissness
    A new, interactive area for the building trade will be created in Hall 1.0 under the motto “Swissness”. Here, the trade fair organiser wants to place a stronger focus on the skilled trades as a central component of the construction industry and, in particular, inspire young talent for the sector.

    A special highlight is the interactive house construction area, where various trades work in parallel and demonstrate their skills. The combination of specialist knowledge, practical demonstrations and networking makes this area an important part of Swissbau 2026.

    The trend world for interior design will be staged for the first time in Hall 1.2 and offers a modern, high-quality ambience for exhibitors from the bathroom, kitchen, floor/wall/ceiling, lighting and contract furnishing sectors. The redesign will enable stronger content-related networking between the exhibitors and ensure a holistic trade fair experience.

    This reorganisation also sees the return of Saturday as a trade fair day – but exclusively for Hall 1.2 and the Swissbau Focus. The extended opening hours will give both trade visitors with a strong professional commitment and private builders another opportunity to visit the trade fair.

    With the established Swissbau Focus and Swissbau Lab, the trade fair continues to focus on interdisciplinary exchange and practical solutions.     Die Swissbau 2024 zog in diesem Jahr mit ihrer beeindruckenden 85’000 m² großen Ausstellungsfläche 52’486 Besucherinnen und Besucher an. Die Messe bot eine einzigartige Gelegenheit für Fachleute aus der Bau- und Immobilienbranche, sich über aktuelle Innovationen und Trends zu informieren und wertvolle Kontakte zu knüpfen. Im Fokus der Veranstaltung stand der Wissenstransfer, angereichert durch Diskussionen und praktische Demonstrationen auf den Plattformen Swissbau Focus und Lab.

    Die Messe, die traditionell alle zwei Jahre stattfindet, war in diesem Jahr von einer besonderen Dynamik geprägt. Im Zentrum stand der persönliche Austausch, der angesichts der zunehmenden Digitalisierung und der Beliebtheit von Videokonferenzen eine neue Qualität erlangte. Unter dem Motto “Den Wandel gemeinsam gestalten” bot die Swissbau vielfältige Plattformen für Produkterlebnisse, Informationsaustausch und Networking.

    Erstmals entschieden sich die Veranstalter, die Messe auf vier Tage zu verkürzen und den wenig geschätzten Samstag aus dem Programm zu nehmen. Dieser Schritt wurde von Ausstellern und Besuchern positiv aufgenommen, da die Qualität der Gespräche und die Bereitschaft zur Auftragsvergabe gesteigert wurden. Die Messe zog Expertinnen und Experten aus verschiedenen Fachbereichen wie Architektur, Planungswesen, Immobilien und Handwerk an.

    Rudolf Pfander, Messeleiter der Swissbau, unterstrich die Bedeutung der Messe als Plattform für neue Angebote und die Entwicklung innovativer Konzepte. Die diesjährige Messe beinhaltete neu geschaffene Marktplätze für Begegnungen und die Designbühne Swissbau Inside, die das Fachpublikum und private Bauinteressierte gleichermaßen begeisterten.

    Die Leitthemen der Swissbau, wie Kreislaufwirtschaft, Energie, Digitalisierung und Lebensraum, spiegelten die aktuellen Herausforderungen der Branche wider. Ebenso zufrieden zeigten sich die Themenpartner Hörmann, Laufen und Siemens mit dem Messeverlauf.

    ePotek is realigning itself

    Let’s stay in western Switzerland, where Prop/FinTech ePotek is realigning itself. The platform is now called Resolve . As CEO Romain Desquesne told my dear friend Mathias Rinka from domblick.eu, Resolve aims to become the reference partner in Switzerland for optimized financial decisions relating to mortgage financing. The name was changed and new services were developed. The aim is to mutate from startup ePotek to scaleup Resolve.

    Stena joins Swiss Immo Lab

    Stena, one of Sweden’s largest family companies with global activities in shipping, ferries, offshore, real estate and finance, has joined Swiss Immo Lab (SIL) as the fifth founding partner through its Swiss subsidiary. Andy Böhm, Managing Director at Stena (Switzerland), became a member of the Board of Directors of SIL, and Per Hellberg, Investment Director at Stena (Switzerland), became a member of the Investment Committee of SIL. Stena Property owns and operates more than 25,700 residential properties and 4,000 commercial premises in Swedish metropolitan areas.

    “With Stena (Switzerland), Swiss Immo Lab has found a fifth founding partner who ideally complements the expertise of the four others and brings an international perspective,” says Alexander Seel, Managing Director of Swiss Immo Lab. “Having established our track record, we are now working on the next step to bring proptech investing to a broader international investor base,” he adds.

    Coop works with hausheld.ch

    Coop Bau + Hobby works together with hausheld.ch . A craftsman service for Coop’s DIY store customers is to be launched together. Herisauer Vermando AG is behind hausheld.ch. The customer buys the products such as floor coverings, paints, plants or lamps from Coop Bau + Hobby and can then have these professionally installed by the craftsmen who have been provided.

    On March 24, 2022, Alpha IC Schweiz AG invites you to the Office Lab in Zurich-Altstetten on the subject of “The Swiss FM market 2022”.

    Anyone who wants to face a large audience will get their money’s worth at the REAL PropTech Pitches 2022 . These will take place digitally and on site on April 6th and 7th, 2022.

    If Germany is too far away for you, you can make a pilgrimage to Lausanne. RENT Switzerland 2022 will take place there from April 6th to 7th. RENT SWITZERLAND 2022 will take place at EPFL’s SwissTech Convention Center , a symbol of innovation.

    Swissbau has been postponed to May 2022. Between May 4th and 6th, startups will present themselves as part of the “Swissbau Challenge”.

    Due to the current COVID-19 situation, the requirements for official approval from Swissbau in January 2022 are not met. Last Friday, the MCH Group, as the organizer of Swissbau, was informed by the canton of Basel-Stadt that, in accordance with the ‘COVID-19 regulation, special situation’, the refusal to hold Swissbau from January 18 to 21, 2022 would be issued.

    In initial discussions with leading exhibitors from all areas, despite the great disappointment, there was clear support for a postponement to the coming spring.

    Swissbau 2022 has been postponed and will now take place from Tuesday, May 3 to Friday, May 6, 2022 in Basel.
