Open day at timber construction company in Uetendorf

Holzbau Graber is holding an open day at its new building at Gewerbestrasse 7 in Uetendorf on Saturday, 15 March 2025, according to a press release. From 10 am to 4 pm, the public will have the opportunity to visit the new company headquarters. Visitors can find out about all facets of the timber construction company. The range of services offered by Graber Holzbau GmbH includes carpentry, roofing, solar technology and interior fittings. The company specialises in the construction of timber houses.

The owner-managed company employs 20 people. The SME intends to continue to grow at the new site and create additional jobs. According to the press release, the previous locations in Heimberg BE and Horrenbach BE had become too small for this.

The move to Uetendorf means that the work and processes are now on the same company premises. According to owner and managing director Johann Graber, the merger will enable further growth. The production hall offers sufficient space for efficient working, and travelling distances for suppliers will be shorter. Numerous organisational advances also speak in favour of a central location.

The open day will provide an opportunity for professional discussions and a cosy get-together. According to the company, a tour of the plant and a performance by musician Roberto Brigante are also planned.

  • Solar folding roof a milestone for Appenzell I.Rh

Solar folding roof a milestone for Appenzell I.Rh

At the recent open day of the wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) in Appenzell I.Rh., the latest project – an ingenious solar folding roof – attracted around 200 interested visitors. This innovative system demonstrates the combination of energy efficiency and environmental protection by covering 80% of the ARA’s energy requirements and minimising the formation of algae in the clarifiers.

In his speech, Ruedi Ulmann, the client of the project, emphasised the importance of the project for the regional energy and climate strategy and highlighted the support of the Grand Council. The solar folding roof, whose design both optimises technical operation and reduces the environmental impact, was blessed by the parish priest Lukas Hidber.

The solar folding roof impresses with its lightweight construction, which allows unrestricted access to the system and protects it from the weather thanks to intelligent control software. The resulting longer service life of the modules and the reduction in algae growth lead to a reduction in operating costs. The innovative use of solar and biogas technologies at the Appenzell I.Rh. wastewater treatment plant is a pioneering example of the effective utilisation of renewable energies at municipal facilities.

New hotel harry’s home invites to open day

The hotel harry’s home at Industriestrasse 160 in Spreitenbach has been in operation since Monday, 3 July. The opening on Wednesday, 5 July was attended by numerous guests from business and politics as well as the founder of the international hotel chain of the same name, Harald Ultsch. The hotel operates under the name harry’s home Zurich-Limmattal. For Saturday, 8 July, the hotel invites guests to visit the facility at an open day.

On the website of the new Spreitenbach hotel, the location is highlighted as an asset. In the middle of the beautiful Limmattal and only a few metres away from the largest shopping centre in Switzerland, the harry’s home Zurich-Limmattal is located, it says. This is a reference to the Shoppi Tivoli shopping centre with 150 shops and restaurants right next door. The Umwelt Arena is also in the immediate vicinity.

Thanks to the Limmattalbahn, the centre of Zurich is easily accessible directly from the hotel. The operators also advertise the region: green valleys, rolling hills, the Limmat river and numerous wellness oases in the spa canton of Aargau form the perfect destination for nature lovers, excursions, hikes or relaxation around the hotel, they say.

Harald Ultsch from Innsbruck is the inventor and founder of the hotel chain harry’s home and flats. His family has been in the hotel business for five generations, according to the hotel’s website. The concept is based on individualisation and allows for a flexible living experience in the studios. As is usual in modern hotels, there is Wi-Fi, a private parking space and the possibility to bring pets. “Spreitenbach is going through a major phase of renewal in terms of urban development, infrastructure and mobility, and we are pleased to be part of this process,” said Harald Utsch at the opening.

The harry’s home chain says it comprises ten hotels in Austria, Germany and Switzerland with a total of 729 studios and over 1500 beds. At the new hotel in the Limmat Valley, sustainability and cooperation with companies from the region are also very important. This can be seen, for example, in the cooperation with bakery pioneer Fredy Hiestand’s baked goods provider Fredy dä Beck in the area of baked goods and catering. The company also operates a branch in Schlieren ZH.
