According to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.news.admin.ch\/de\/newnsb\/yNgfnQ6o9l7doYlqLOqF5\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">press release<\/a>, the Swiss Federal Office of Energy<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bfe.admin.ch\/bfe\/de\/home.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">(SFOE<\/a>) has conducted direct negotiations with potential providers in advance. Following the end of the tendering process in February 2025, the Federal Department of the Environment, Transport, Energy and Communications<a href=\"https:\/\/www.admin.ch\/gov\/de\/start\/departemente\/departement-fuer-umwelt-verkehr-energie-kommunikation-uvek.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">(DETEC<\/a>) decided to select five projects with a total capacity of 583 megawatts (MW).<\/p>\n<p class=\"bodytext\">The selected projects include the reserve power plant Monthey VS with 55 MW from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cimo.ch\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CIMO<\/a>, the reserve power plant Sisslerfeld 1 in the municipality of Eiken AG with 13 MW from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.getec.swiss\/de\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Getec<\/a>, the reserve power plant Stein AG with 44 MW from Getec, the reserve power plant Sisslerfeld 2 in Eiken AG with 180 MW from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sw-infra.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sidewinder<\/a> and the reserve power plant Auhafen in Muttenz BL with 291 MW from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.axpo.com\/ch\/de.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Axpo<\/a>. All five plants will run on CO2-neutral fuel, according to the press release.<\/p>\n<p class=\"bodytext\">The five projects should be ready for operation between 2027 and 2030.
