As the project partners <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ekz.ch\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">EKZ<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sak.ch\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">SAK<\/a> write in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ekz.ch\/ekz\/de\/ueber-ekz\/medien\/medien\/medienmitteilungen\/EKZ-und-SAK-verfolgen--Felsenstrom--nicht-weiter.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">press release<\/a>, they are no longer pursuing the Felsenstrom solar project.<\/p>\n<p class=\"bodytext\">The electricity suppliers of the cantons of Zurich, St.Gallen and Appenzell justify their decision on the one hand with delays in the authorisation process. Adjustments to the project as a result of objections would require a new public enquiry. Secondly, the installation of free-hanging modules on the steep face would be challenging, complex and time-consuming.<\/p>\n<p class=\"bodytext\">The project partners therefore no longer expect to be able to complete the project by the end of 2030. However, this would be a prerequisite for it to be able to benefit from the facilitations and subsidies under the Solar Express programme.<\/p>\n<p class=\"bodytext\">The plant would be built at the former Schn&uuml;r quarry. The solar modules with an area of 44,000 square metres should generate around 12 gigawatt hours of electricity per year, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/publikationen.sg.ch\/ekab\/?publication=170591&amp;tx_diamcore_publicationsearchresu%5B%E2%80%A6%5Dicationsearchresultdetail%5Bcontroller%5D=PublicationSearch\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">public building notification<\/a> from September 2024.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Elektrizit\u00e4tswerke des Kantons Z\u00fcrich (EKZ) and St.Gallisch-Appenzellische Kraftwerke AG (SAK) are cancelling the Felsenstrom solar project above Lake Walen.
