According to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.georgfischer.com\/de\/newsroom\/media-releases\/newsdetail.html\/news\/gf\/2026\/gf-secures-order-for-new-green-steel-project\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">press release<\/a>, the GF Industry and Infrastructure Flow Solutions division is supplying a turnkey marine water intake system and an onshore piping system for the plant&rsquo;s cooling water supply.<\/p>\n<p class=\"bodytext\">SSAB is building an electrified steelworks in Lule&aring; with a capacity of 2.5 million tonnes per year. The plant is designed to produce high-quality steel products with a lower environmental impact. GF is supplying a system based on the Weholite solution, which transports water to the pumping station on the coast and on to the steelworks&rsquo; heat exchangers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"bodytext\">&ldquo;This project is closely aligned with our strategic focus on higher-value applications that enable more sustainable industrial processes,&rdquo; says Thomas Hary, President of GF Industry and Infrastructure Flow Solutions. The project is scheduled to be implemented from the second quarter of 2026 to the fourth quarter of 2027.<\/p>\n<p class=\"bodytext\">The contract was awarded by NYAB, which is involved in the project as a subcontractor. It comprises pipework with diameters ranging from DN 800 to DN 1600 mm and a total length of around 12 kilometres, including fittings.
