As decided by the delegates of the municipal association on 1 November, a solar folding roof is to be installed on the roof of the wastewater treatment basin. They decided to invest 12.4 million Swiss francs in the project, according to a press release. This should be amortised within 17 years.<\/p>\n<p class=\"bodytext\">The folding roof from the manufacturer <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dhp-technology.ch\/de\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">dhp technology<\/a>, based in Zizers, will have a solar module surface area of 23,000 square metres. This will make it the largest photovoltaic system at a Swiss wastewater treatment plant and one of the largest in the canton of Bern. It will have an output of 3,000 kilowatts peak and generate 3 gigawatt hours of electricity per year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"bodytext\">In addition, ARA Thunersee already produces 13 gigawatt hours of biomethane per year and feeds this into the natural gas grid of <a href=\"https:\/\/energiethun.ch\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Energie Thun AG<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ARA Thunersee is installing a folding roof from Graub\u00fcnden-based manufacturer dhp technology on its wastewater treatment tank.
