According to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sak.ch\/de\/presse\/batteriespeicher-bess-rheineck\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">press release<\/a>, the new storage system will have a storage capacity of 6.24 megawatt hours and thus contribute to the energy transition and stabilisation of the regional power grid. The general contractor is Kreuzlingen-based <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espectrum.ch\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">eSpectrum AG<\/a>, which manufactures energy storage systems.<\/p>\n<p class=\"bodytext\">The new storage facility will mainly be used by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swissgrid.ch\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Swissgrid<\/a>. As a transmission system operator, Swissgrid works to ensure a secure and stable electricity grid.
