Uffer is contributing to the 100th anniversary of the Spengler Cup Davos with a sustainable temporary structure made of regional wood. The LOFT ’23 is intended to accommodate celebrities and other important guests in the Kurpark instead of the traditional tent, the Bündner Holzbaufirma informs in a press release. The innovative temporary building is being erected using the QUADRIN modular construction system and is scheduled to open on 26 December this year.
The temporary building is designed as a two-storey building with a usable area of 4480 square metres. With 530 construction elements, the building is a logistical challenge, writes Uffer. According to a report in the “Davoser Zeitung”, the wooden building will be refitted by the World Economic Forum for its own purposes following the ice hockey tournament and will continue to be used. Uffer describes the LOFT as a “building of the century” and a “lighthouse project for quality, CO2 bonding and unique spatial ambience”.
The QUADRIN modular construction system was first launched by Uffer in 2013 in the form of a house the size of a shipping container. One year later, the Grisons-based company brought its modular construction method to series production readiness. The modular system is just as suitable for creating restaurants as it is for a radio studio, a VIP lounge or a turnkey hotel, writes Uffer on the QUADRIN website. The Jufa Hotel in Savognin, which belongs to Surses, and the Bever Lodge in Bever GR, among others, are built from QUADRIN modules.
